Jagdpanther T Shirts

February 25, 2009

The jagdpanther t shirt that I  feature in my store, Achtung T Shirt,  has been a big seller since it became on of the many tees in my German Panzer Tank t shirt category.  I have 2 Jagdpanther tee’s in this category and the one with the side 3/4 profile is the most popular of the 2.  Now the tiger tank and panther tank t shirts sell very well due to the popularity of the panzers, but the Jagdpanther has really surprised me.

heres some more info on the Jagdpanther:

A heavy tank destroyer design founded upon the 88 mm Pak 43 artillery and the Panther tank frame was ordered in late 1942 as design SdKfz 173. Production started in early 1944; at the same time Hitler specified the Jagdpanther (“hunting panther”) name.

To suit the heavier-calibre gun, very much like the former Jagdpanzer-style unturreted tank destroyers, the sides of the Panther tank were extended up into an integral, turret less fixed case mate as part of the main hull itself to provide a roomy interior. Both the Panther Ausf. G and Jagdpanther had side armor of increased elevation to enhance this effect even further and to harmonize production.

It was armed with an anti-tank version of the same long-barreled 88 mm gun as the Tiger II and a 7.92 mm MG-34 machine gun in the front glacis plate for local defence. The Jagdpanther had a good power-to-weight ratio and a powerful main gun, which enabled it to destroy any type of Allied tank. Because it was based on the existing  Panther tank chassis, the vehicle didn’t endure too many mechanical problems. It was manned by a crew of 5, a driver, radio-operator, commander, gunner, and a loader.

Two versions can be distinguished, one with a welded steel band around the primary gun mantlet and the other with a bolted-on band. The versions with the bolted-on ring were equipped with Pak 43/4 gun. Early Jagdpanthers had a monobloc gun barrel and two vision openings for the driver, whereas late versions had only one.

This t-shirt is based on my favorite gun to use while playing any of the World War 2 themed video game shooters. These games include: Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Battlefield 1942. I love the MP44 in these games due to the accuracy coupled with the rate of fire and magazine capacity. Also stopping power is good with the Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle. The StG44 t shirt comes in the 3 basic colors of black, red and military green. Here’s some info on this stylish WW2 German infantry weapon. The StG44 (Sturmgewehr 44 or “assault rifle model 1944″) was an assault rifle developed in Nazi Germany during World War II and was the first of its kind to see major deployment. It is also known under the designations MP43 and MP44…

(Maschinenpistole 43, Maschinenpistole 44 respectively), which denotes earlier development versions of the same weapon. MP43, MP44, and StG44 were different designations for what was essentially the same rifle, with minor updates in production. The variety in the naming formats resulted from complicated circumstances in Germany in World War II. Developed from the Mkb 42 (H) “machine carbine”, the StG44 combined the characteristics of a carbine, sub-machine gun and automatic rifle. StG is an abb. of  the Sturmgewehr assault rifle. The name was chosen for the propaganda reasons and literally means storm rifle as in “to storm an enemy position” (i.e. “assault”, leading to the modern terminology “assault rifle”). After the adoption of the StG44, the English translation “assault rifle” became the accepted designation for this type of infantry small arm. The rifle was chambered for the 7.92x33mm Kurz cartridge, also known as 7.92 mm Kurz (German for “short”). This shorter version of the German standard (7.92x57mm Mauser) rifle round, in combination with the weapon’s selective-fire design, provided a compromise between the controllable firepower of a submachine gun at close quarters with the accuracy and power of a Karabiner 98k bolt action rifle at intermediate ranges. While the StG44 had less range and power than the more powerful infantry rifles of the day, Wehrmacht studies had shown that most combat engagements occurred at less than 300 m with the majority within 200 m. Full-power rifle cartridges were overpowered for the vast majority of uses for the average soldier. The StG44’s receiver was made of heavy stamped and welded steel as were other contemporary arms such as the MP40 and MG42.

This made for a fairly heavy rifle, especially one firing an intermediate-power cartridge. Difficulties with fabrication, the need to use available non-priority steels, and the exigencies of war resulted in a heavy receiver. U.S. military intelligence criticized the weight of the weapon along with the inclusion of the fully automatic feature which it considered “ineffectual for all practical purposes.” The British were also critical saying that the receiver could be bent and the bolt locked up by the mere act of knocking a leaning rifle onto a hard floor. Many of these criticisms are more a testimonial of the Allied aversion rather than an accurate view of the weapon’s characteristics which were proven during combat in the war. To its credit, it was the first weapon of its class, and the concept had a major impact on modern infantry small arms development. By all accounts, the StG44 fulfilled its role admirably, particularly on the Eastern Front, offering a greatly increased volume of fire compared to standard infantry rifles. In the end, it came too late to have a significant effect on the outcome of the war. Also posted on my Achtung T Shirt blog

Celebrate Diversity gun t shirt by Achtung T

February 7, 2009

I have a few gun t shirts that have been doing well.  The best is the “Celebrate Diversity” t shirt that shows 12 different machine guns, assault rifles, etc. and has the caption of “Celebrate Diversity” at the bottom.  I think this is a funny gun t shirt and so do many of the people that buy them.  I can’t believe the number of women buyers of this shirt, especially in military green.  I think this tee sends different messages to the people that see it.  How do people interpret it?  Does it mean that your a gun nut, or that you don’t believe in the common term for “Celebrate Diversity“?  It sure gets reaction from people when I wear mine.  Of the guns on this t shirt are: StG44 Sturmgewehr,  Thompson, Uzi,  Ak47,  MG42, MP5 HK,  M16, Mp40.  All of these are of course assault rifles, machine pistols or machine guns.

Some new designs have gone up on my Ebay store and my online store Achtung T  I am into the paranormal to a lesser degree and enjoy the X files and all that stuff.  I really like the Bigfoot mystery and decided to design a t shirt based on the famous picture of Sasquatch turning and looking at the camera.  I also have the caption of “I BELIEVE” on this Bigfoot, Sasquatch t shirt design.

Here some more info on Bigfoot:

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is an so-called anthropoidal creature supposedly dwelling forests, primarily in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is typically reported as a massive, furred, two-footed humanoid. Many believers in its existence contend that the same or similar creatures are found around the world under different regional names, most prominently the Yeti of the Himalayas.

The scientific community considers Bigfoot to be a combination of folklore, mis-identification, and hoaxes, rather than a real creature. Despite the repudiation of Bigfoot by science, it is one of the more famous examples of cryptozoology.
Bigfoot is described in reports as a large ape-like creature, ranging between 6–10 feet  tall, weighing in excess of 500 pounds (230 kg), and covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair. Declared witnesses have described large eyes, a noticeable brow ridge, and a large, low-set forehead; the top of the head has been described as rounded and crested, similar to the sagittal crest of the male gorilla. Bigfoot is commonly reported to have a strong, unpleasant smell by those who have claimed to have encountered it.The enormous footprints for which it is named have been as large as 24 inches (61 cm) long and 8 inches (20 cm) wide. While most casts

have five toes—like all known apes—some casts of alleged Bigfoot tracks have had numbers ranging from two to six. Few have also contained claw marks, making it plausible that a part came from familiar creatures such as bears, which have four toes and claws.advocates have also claimed that Bigfoot is omnivorous and mainly nocturnal.

Almost a third of all Bigfoot sightings are massed in the Pacific north-west, with most of the remaining sightings spread throughout the rest of North America.  Some Bigfoot advocates, such as cryptozoologist John Willison Green, have postulated that Bigfoot is a worldwide phenomenon.
