AK-47 Rated E for Everyone Gun T Shirt

July 8, 2009

Well I guess I am at it again. I really like the “Rated E for Everyone” logo on a t shirt, but the “GUNS Rated E for Everyone” didn’t take off so well. So I decided to put individual guns designs on the t shirts with the “E” logo. The first is the AK-47 assault rifle t shirt and second is the StG 44 Sturmgewehr World War 2 German assault rifle t shirt.

The AK (or AK-47, or Kalashnikov) is a selective fire, gas operated 7.62mm assault rifle developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov in the 1940s. Six decades later, the AK-47  and its variants and derivatives remain in service throughout the world. It has been manufactured in many countries and has seen service with regular armed forces as well as irregular, revolutionary and terrorist organizations worldwide.

The designation AK-47 stands for (Avtomat Kalashnikova 47) – Kalashnikov automatic rifle, model of 1947.

Design work on the AK began in 1944. In 1946 a version of the rifle, the AK-46, was presented for official military trials, and a year later the fixed stock version was introduced into service with select units of the Red Army. The AK47 was officially accepted by the Soviet Armed Forces in 1949. An early development of the design was the AKS-47 (S—Skladnoy or “folding”), which differed in being equipped with an underfolding metal shoulder stock.

The AK-47 was one of the first true assault rifles and, due to its durability, low production cost and ease of use, the weapon and its numerous variants remain the most widely used assault rifles in the world — so much so that more AK-type rifles have been produced than all other assault rifles combined It was also used by the majority of the member states of the former Warsaw Pact. The AK-47 was also used as a basis for the development of many other types of individual and crew-served firearms.

During World War II, the Germans developed the assault rifle concept, based upon research that showed that most firefights happen at close range, within 300 meters. The power and range of contemporary rifle cartridges was excessive for most small arms firefights. As a result, armies sought a cartridge and rifle combining submachine gun features (large-capacity magazine, selective-fire) with an intermediate-power cartridge effective to 300 meters. To reduce manufacturing costs, the 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge case was shortened, the result of which was the lighter 7.92x33mm Kurz.

The resultant rifle, the Sturmgewehr 44 (StG44) was not the first with these features; its predecessors were the Italian Cei-Rigotti and the Russian Fedorov Avtomat design rifles. The Germans, however, were the first to produce and field sufficient numbers of this assault rifle to properly evaluate its combat utility. Towards the end of the war, they fielded the weapon against the Soviets; the experience deeply influenced Soviet military doctrine in the post-war years.

Mikhail Kalashnikov began his career as a weapon designer while in a hospital after being wounded during the Battle of Bryansk After tinkering with a sub-machine gun design, he entered a competition for a new weapon that would chamber the 7.62x41mm cartridge developed by Elisarov and Semin in 1943 (the 7.62x41mm cartridge predated the current 7.62x39mm M1943). A particular requirement of the competition was the reliability of the firearm in the muddy, wet, and frozen conditions of the Soviet frontline. Kalashnikov designed a carbine, strongly influenced by the American M1 Garand, that lost out to the Simonov design that later became the SKS semi-automatic carbine. At the same time, the Soviet Army was interested in developing a true assault rifle employing a shortened M1943 round. The first such weapon was presented by Sudayev in 1944; however in trials it was found to be too heavy. A new design competition was held two years later where Kalashnikov and his design team submitted an entry. It was a gas-operated rifle which had a breech-block mechanism similar to his 1944 carbine, and a curved 30-round magazine.

Kalashnikov’s rifles (codenamed AK-1 and -2) proved to be reliable and the gun was accepted to second round of competition along with designs by A.A Demetev and F. Bulkin. In late 1946, as the guns were being tested, one of Kalashnikov’s assistants, Aleksandr Zaytsev, suggested a major redesign of AK-1, particularly to improve reliability. At first, Kalashnikov was reluctant, given that their rifle had already fared better than its competitors; however eventually Zaytsev managed to persuade Kalashnikov. The new rifle was produced for a second round of firing tests and field trials. There, Kalashnikov assault rifle model 1947 proved to be simple and reliable, under a wide range of conditions with convenient handling characteristics. In 1949 it was therefore adopted by the Soviet Army as ‘7.62mm Kalashnikov assault rifle (AK)’

AK-47 T SHIRT “THE PREFERRED WEAPON OF YOUR ENEMY”

This t-shirt features the Russian assault rifle the AK-47. The phrase is from the movie “Heartbreak Ridge” where Clint Eastwood, Gunnery Sgt. Highway, ran ahead of his men and ambushed them with the AK-47. After firing he said: “This is the AK-47, the preferred weapon of your enemy. It makes a distinct sound when fired.” So I made a funny t-shirt from this inspiration. I really like the detail on the AK-47 and with white on black it has the stark contrast that looks cool.

Conservative Gun Owner T Shirt

I just listed another new gun lover’s t shirt.  It’s the “Conservative Gun Owner” t shirt that shows your support for the Constitutional right that we all share.  It’s called the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights and it states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.  So if you are a gun owner and a conservative politically, you will want to display this fact by wearing this t shirt.  I wonder if Obama is going to push through another assault rifle ban?  People are buying up guns and ammo like crazy.

GUNS: Rated E For Everyone T-Shirt

Well I saw a cool t shirt that had the logo of the “Rated E for Everyone” with at the top saying “YOUR MOM”.  I thought it was funny so I decided to put my pro-gun spin idea on it with “GUNS…RATED E FOR EVERYONE”.  I have so many German Tiger Tank t shirts that I thought that more gun t shirts would be refreshing.  I do have the “AK-47 PREFERRED WEAPON OF YOUR ENEMY”, “CELEBRATE DIVERSITY” and the “StG44” sturmgewehr MP44 t-shirts that are selling well.  Oh yeah and the “GUN CONTROL MEANS ONE SHOT ONE KILL“,  don’t want to forget that one.  I will be having more anti gun control and pro gun t shirts in the near future, as I think of cool ideas and designs.  I always design tees that I will wear myself and that express my opinions and interests.

This t-shirt is based on my favorite gun to use while playing any of the World War 2 themed video game shooters. These games include: Call of Duty, Medal of Honor or Battlefield 1942. I love the MP44 in these games due to the accuracy coupled with the rate of fire and magazine capacity. Also stopping power is good with the Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle. The StG44 t shirt comes in the 3 basic colors of black, red and military green. Here’s some info on this stylish WW2 German infantry weapon. The StG44 (Sturmgewehr 44 or “assault rifle model 1944″) was an assault rifle developed in Nazi Germany during World War II and was the first of its kind to see major deployment. It is also known under the designations MP43 and MP44…

(Maschinenpistole 43, Maschinenpistole 44 respectively), which denotes earlier development versions of the same weapon. MP43, MP44, and StG44 were different designations for what was essentially the same rifle, with minor updates in production. The variety in the naming formats resulted from complicated circumstances in Germany in World War II. Developed from the Mkb 42 (H) “machine carbine”, the StG44 combined the characteristics of a carbine, sub-machine gun and automatic rifle. StG is an abb. of  the Sturmgewehr assault rifle. The name was chosen for the propaganda reasons and literally means storm rifle as in “to storm an enemy position” (i.e. “assault”, leading to the modern terminology “assault rifle”). After the adoption of the StG44, the English translation “assault rifle” became the accepted designation for this type of infantry small arm. The rifle was chambered for the 7.92x33mm Kurz cartridge, also known as 7.92 mm Kurz (German for “short”). This shorter version of the German standard (7.92x57mm Mauser) rifle round, in combination with the weapon’s selective-fire design, provided a compromise between the controllable firepower of a submachine gun at close quarters with the accuracy and power of a Karabiner 98k bolt action rifle at intermediate ranges. While the StG44 had less range and power than the more powerful infantry rifles of the day, Wehrmacht studies had shown that most combat engagements occurred at less than 300 m with the majority within 200 m. Full-power rifle cartridges were overpowered for the vast majority of uses for the average soldier. The StG44’s receiver was made of heavy stamped and welded steel as were other contemporary arms such as the MP40 and MG42.

This made for a fairly heavy rifle, especially one firing an intermediate-power cartridge. Difficulties with fabrication, the need to use available non-priority steels, and the exigencies of war resulted in a heavy receiver. U.S. military intelligence criticized the weight of the weapon along with the inclusion of the fully automatic feature which it considered “ineffectual for all practical purposes.” The British were also critical saying that the receiver could be bent and the bolt locked up by the mere act of knocking a leaning rifle onto a hard floor. Many of these criticisms are more a testimonial of the Allied aversion rather than an accurate view of the weapon’s characteristics which were proven during combat in the war. To its credit, it was the first weapon of its class, and the concept had a major impact on modern infantry small arms development. By all accounts, the StG44 fulfilled its role admirably, particularly on the Eastern Front, offering a greatly increased volume of fire compared to standard infantry rifles. In the end, it came too late to have a significant effect on the outcome of the war. Also posted on my Achtung T Shirt blog
